Analysis of DANAYA Contribution to SDGs
Through DANAYA’s Founder and CEO, Deris Nagara’s Journey as a Youth Leader who had the privilege of devoting his life to the noble cause of furthering youth empowerment, community development and engagement, as well as advocating for education quality in Indonesia for a decade, he has observed that there is a concerning issue regarding unequal access to opportunities and empowerment among Indonesian youth. SDG 4: Quality Education - It is disheartening to witness limited access to education for some individuals, as it hinders their ability to escape poverty and contributes to their marginalization. It is important to acknowledge the potential and aspirations of individuals, promoting their well-being and ensuring inclusive and equitable opportunities for all (SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth). This experience has further solidified his determination to contribute to Indonesia's development by advocating for inclusive changes and implementing effective public policies and programs that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Throughout his practical experiences as a youth leader and Indonesian youth representative in various ASEAN and UN agendas, and as an academician, he strived to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into every aspect of his community development and youth empowerment programs, including incorporating them within DANAYA.
In DANAYA, we believe that achieving sustainable development is crucial for addressing the most pressing global challenges and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Therefore, DANAYA is committed to achieving the youth-specific Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets by advocating for youth empowerment, development, and education in Indonesia, with a focus on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). We strongly advocate for the implementation of a development program that aligns with Sustainable Development Goals. DANAYA strives to prioritize strategic partnerships and involve multi-stakeholders, while also promoting intergenerational dialogue to ensure the perspectives and interests of all are considered.
SDG 5 Gender Equality
Target 5.5: Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision making in political, economic and public life.
Target 5.5.2: Proportion of women in managerial positions.
DANAYA has a majority of female composition in the core team contributing to 60-70% which represents the high participation of women and appreciation of their role in the organization. This would be a good picture for all the community members.
